Work on development of New Russian Spacesuits may begin in 2019

MOSCOW, Nov 22 (Sputnik) The development of the next generation of Russian spacesuits may begin in 2019 following the start of new financing for the future operation of the International Space Station (ISS), Sergey Pozdnyakov, chief designer at JSC Zvezda company, said in an interview with Sputnik.
“As for the next generation of spacesuits, a new stage of financing the operation of the ISS will begin in the second half of 2019. We expect that the development of a new spacesuit will be included in the financing program. The customers have not yet formulated their technical and commercial proposals, although we have discussed general issues with RSC Energia and Roscosmos," Pozdnyakov said.
Russia's JSC RD & PE Zvezda engages in the research, development, and production of portable life support systems for pilots and cosmonauts.
