Jaipur, Dec 9 (UNI) Women and girls demonstrated more enthusiasm and zeal in exercising franchise in December 7 Rajasthan Assembly elections with the figures of polling percentage by them surpassing that of men and boys.
According to polling figures released by the Election Commission here on Saturday evening, 74.66 per cent of total 2,27,15,086 cast their vote on Friday compared to the corresponding figures 73.80 percent (of 2,47,22,448 of men and boys).
In all, 74.21 percent of 47.43 million electorate exercised their franchise on Friday in 199 constituencies for electing the 15th House of the state legislature.
The participation of first time voters--youth in 18-19 age group-, was even higher with 83.23 percent from the category cast vote.
Election on one seat Ramgarh in Alwar has been countermanded following death of the BSP nominee Laxman Singh Chaudhary.
Counting of votes, polled in Friday's voting, will be done on Tuesday.
Prior to this, re-polling is scheduled to be held at one polling station in the Karanpur constituency of Ganganagar district on Monday.
