Woman injured in accidental fire in Jalandhar

Jalandhar, Mar 9 (UNI) An accidental shot fired from a pistol left a woman seriously injured when she was passing through the Cool road on Saturday morning.
The woman, identified as Nisha, wife of Manjit Singh, a resident of Bhargva Camp, told the police that she was passing through the cool road when all of a sudden she felt that some sharp and hard substance had pierced into her stomach after which she started bleeding profusely. She was rushed to the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment.
The police said the gun shot got fired accidentally during the cleanliness of the weapon of the police guard Suram Singh, deployed for security of the former district Congress president Daljit Singh Ahluwalia. Model Town police has taken Suram Singh into its custody for interrogation.
