Srinagar, Mar 28 (UNI) Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested seven drug peddlers including a woman and recovered drugs and cash from them in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Police said during a checking at Boniyar Baramulla a vehicle coming from Chandanwari towards Boniyar in which four persons were travelling were intercepted. However, on seeing checking party they tried to flee from the spot but were tactfully apprehended.
They said during checking 60 grams of contraband Heroin-like substance along with cash Rs 50,000 was recovered from them. The vehicle was also seized, police said.
The accused has been identified as Ikhlaq Mir, Kabir Ahmad Awan both residents of Daragutliyan, Abdul Qayoom Khan of Bela Salamabad & Muneeba Younis a resident of Uranbowa.
All the four have been arrested and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Boniyar police station, police added.
A police party of Sheeri at a checkpoint established at Sheeri Market arrested three drug peddlers identified as Zubair Ahmad Pandith a resident of Gantamulla Payeen, Waheed Bashir Lone and Mushtaq Ahmad Lone both residents of Fatehgarh Sheeri.
During the search, 63 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.
