Gurugram, (Haryana), Jan. 28 (UNI): The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director-General A P Maheshwari on Tuesday said that despite changed tactics and better equipment, the possibility of Pulwama like terror incident can be reduced but cannot be totally ruled out.
Talking to journalists here at Group Headquarter at Kadarpur on the occasion of felicitation of gallantry awardees of CRPF, the CRPF chief said that after Pulwama terror attack last year which targeted CRPF jawans, the security forces have strengthened the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and changed the tactics as well.
Speaking ahead of the first anniversary of the Pulwama attack, Mr Maheshwari said that there was no guarantee of averting such attacks completely but with improved measures chances of such attacks can be considerably reduced.
``One has to understand conflict theatres. We work at multiple levels. Not one single agency deals with terrorism”, he added.
Mr Maheshwari also said that 3 lakh strong force had introduced key tactical changes to avert Pulwama like attacks in future in terms of security drill, equipment, tactics, training, mobility, surveillance traffic control.
On February 14 last year, 40 CRPF jawans were killed in a deadly terror attack in nearly three decades of insurgency in Kashmir Valley. The attack was mounted by a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) suicide bomber when he rammed a vehicle loaded with 350 kilograms of explosives into one of the buses carrying 35-40 troopers out of a 78-vehicle CRPF convoy in Pulwama.
Replying to a question on demand of fresh probe in Pulwama attack, Mr Maheshwari said that that he has full faith in the Ministry of Home Affairs and other agencies who probed this gruesome attack on the CRPF convoy.
