Winning momentum will continue at World Wrestling C'ship in Budapest: Bajrang

New Delhi, Sept 4 (UNI) Indian star wrestler Bajrang Punia who gave India its first gold at the 18th Asian Games on Tuesday exuded confidence saying the winning momentum will continue in the upcoming World Wrestling Championship at Budapest, Hungary slated to begin from October 20-28.

Punia who attended the Guru Hanuman Memorial Delhi Wrestling Championship U-23 event here in the

capital at KD Jadhav wrestling stadium was given a rousing welcome by the wrestlers.

On this occasion, Punia said, "winning back to back gold at the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, now the expectations from people will be very high in the upcoming World Wrestling Championship and I hope to continue the momentum and win the yellow metal at Budapest also."

Bajrang who earlier fought in 60kg category had won bronze in World Wrestling Championship at Budapest in 2013, but now fights in 65kg category. Punia's gold in Commonwealth and Asian Games

came in 60kg category.

"Right now my two big target is World Wrestling Championship and 2020 Tokyo Olympics, this time there is no Olympic quota at World Wrestling Championship, but next year at world Championship there is Olympic quota. At present I am training at Yogeshwar Dutt's Academy. I will be leaving soon for preparation of World Championship. First I will travel to Georgia and then Poland and from there to Budapest."

"Winning gold at the Asian Games was memorable, My preparation was good and I had belief in myself

and had promised before departing that on August 19 at Jakarta, Indian flag will fly high and kept the promise."

When asked upon to dedicate this gold medal feat, Punia said, "I had support of people of my country friends and family members and I dedicate this medal to all."

Punia also assured of winning medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
