Will give importance to people's views, try to make a difference: Prasoon Joshi on his appointment as CBFC chief

New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) Happy over his appointment as chief of the Censor Board, noted ad man and film lyricist Prasoon Joshi has said that he will take cognizance of people's views while carrying out his work and would try to make as much difference as he could. On the reconstitution of the CBFC and appointment of actress Vidya Balan and filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri as member of the Board, Joshi said that the formation of a new team would 'make a difference'. In his first reaction over his appointment as chairperson of the CBFC, Joshi said,'I am happy that the film industry has expectations from me. I have respect for the industry. I will always try to take opinion of people, who have right and positive thinking because this is very new to me.' Joshi said that even though he did not have any idea about the working of the CBFC, he believed in taking up responsibilities. "I first need to understand the role and responsibility. I don't have any idea about the CBFC functioning and my role as its chief. However, I feel I am a sensible man and I believe in taking responsibilities. I have always been a confident person and more than anything I think, we should do our work responsibly. I will try to fulfill my responsibilities as per the best of my abilities with my experience and guidance. With good intent, I would like to make as much difference as I can," he said. Joshi was last evening appointed chairperson of the Censor Board in place of filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani. While appointing him as Censor board chief, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry also reconstituted the CBFC board, including as its members film actress Vidya Balan, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, Gautami Tadimalla, Narendra Kohli, Naresh Chandra Lal, Neil Herbert Nongkynrih, Waman Kendre, T.S. Nagabharana, Ramesh Patange, Vani Tripati Tikoo, Jeevitha Rajasekhar and Mihir Bhuta. On Vidya Balan, Vivek Agnihoitri and others included in the reconstituted CBFC, Joshi said: "I feel all good people who are going to join will make a difference. It has to be done together. I feel some sort of understanding has to be brought in. We need to look at it constructively." Joshi is known for his lyrics for films like 'Black', 'Taare Zameen Par', 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', 'Rang De Basanti', 'Delhi-6' and 'Neerja'. He has also designed several successful ad campaigns. Joshi, who has been honoured with the Padma Shri, also penned the theme song for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and other campaigns. UNI AR SHK 1640
