Will choose 'safe' option on release of 'Padmavat': Goa DGP

Panaji, Jan 10 (UNI) Goa Director General of Police Mukthesh Chander on Wednesday said that the state police will choose a "safe" option on the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial film 'Padmavat' in the state.

Speaking to reporters in the city, he said, "As for me the movie has been given a certificate and passed by Central Board of Film Certification. Whatever is safe, we will do."

The comment has come in the wake of reports appearing in some local newspapers in the state that the state police in its intelligence report to the state government recently had cautioned against the release of the film.

The uniformed force had cautioned the government as already its chunk of personnel were engaged in discharging law and order duties due to peak tourism season.

The film featuring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh was finally certified by Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) last month, though after after much delay and controversy.
