Wildlife Board must include farmer bodies: Himachal Kisan Sabha

Shimla, May 18 (UNI) Himachal Kisan Sabha (HKS) on Monday welcomed the reconstitution of the Himachal Pradesh Wildlife Board headed by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, but expressed concern over the exclusion of the largest farmer organisation from the newly-formed body.
State President Dr Kuldip Singh Tanwar said it was “unfortunate” that the Himachal Kisan Sabha, which it described as the largest farmers’ organisation in the state, had not been given representation as a non-government member in the board.
The Sabha urged the state government to ensure representation of all stakeholders, especially farmer organisations, as farmers were the worst affected by the increasing menace of wild animals.
