Widows celebrates Diwali in Vrindavan

Vrindavan, Oct 27 (UNI) History once again was created today when for the first time around a thousand widows ushered in Diwali inside the centuries old Gopinath Temple in the temple city.
Choosing to break away from age-old tradition and social taboo, they participated in a big way in the festival of lights.
Motivated by the series of revolutionary initiatives being spearheaded by well-known Social Reformer and Mentor of Sulabh Movement, Dr Bindeshwar Pathak, widows living in various Ashrams in Vrindavan and Varanasi commenced their four-day long Diwali celebrations from Gopinath Temple in Vrindavan in a grand manner.
