New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly WPI, stood at 3.07 per cent for April 2019 over the same month last year as compared to 3.18 per cent for the previous month and 3.62 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year.
Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 0.75 per cent compared to a build up rate of 0.86 per cent in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to data released by the Commerce and Industry ministry on Tuesday.
The rate of inflation based on WPI Food Index consisting of ‘Food Articles’ from Primary Articles group and ‘Food Product’ from Manufactured Products group increased from 3.89 per cent in March to 4.95 per cent in April this year.
The index for Primary articles group rose by 3.3 per cent while 'Food Articles' group rose by 3.4 per cent for the previous month due to higher price of tea, fruits and vegetables among others.
The index for ' Non-Food Articles' group rose by 2.6 per cent and 'Minerals' group by 5.3 per cent.
The index for 'Crude Petroleum & Natural Gas' group rose by 2.4 per cent for the previous month due to higher price of natural gas and crude petroleum.
The index for Fuel and power declined by 0.5 per cent while 'Mineral Oils' group rose by 0.4 per cent.
The index for 'Electricity' group declined by 3.1 per cent .
The index for 'Manufacture Of Food Products' group rose by 0.2 per cent for the previous month due to higher price of processed tea , honey and chicken among others.
The index for 'Manufacture Of Beverages' group rose by 0.7 per cent while 'Manufacture Of Tobacco Products' group rose by 0.6 per cent.
The index for 'Manufacture Of Textiles' group rose by 0.6 per cent and for 'Manufacture Of Wearing Apparel' group by 0.4 per cent.
The index for 'Manufacture Of Motor Vehicles, Trailers And Semi-Trailers' group declined by 0.4 per cent for the previous month.
