Manila, Sep 18 (UNI) The World Health Organisation (WHO) continues to support the Republic of Korea in responding to an imported case of Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).
The Organisation has been working with the country to support contact tracing, public communication and information-sharing under the International Health Regulations (2005).
The case is a 61-year-old Korean man who had returned to the Republic of Korea on September 7 following a business trip to Kuwait. Upon arrival, he contacted a doctor who, based on the patient’s symptoms and travel history, suspected MERS. Infection control and isolation measures were immediately put in place.
