Western Odisha reeling under intense heat wave

Bhubaneswar, Apr 23 ( UNI) Western Odisha regions are reeling under severe heat wave condition today, with the day temperature hovering above 40 degree Celsius at many places.
Titilagarh was the hottest place in the state with a temperature of 42.5 degree Celsius, followed by Malkangiri (41.6) Sambalpur and Sonepur (40.2 each), and Bhawanipatna 40 degee Celsius.
The condition in Coastal Odisha was much better as the maximum day temperature went down by several notches after rain accompanied by thunderstorm lashed several areas, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Paradip and Anugul during the last 24 hours.
The local meteorology department predicted that coastal Odisha would remain comparatively cooler in comparison to western Odisha in the next couple of days.
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 37 and 36.4 degree Celsius today.
The maximum day temperature in other parts of the state remained under 40 degree Celsius today.
