Wearing of helmet mandatory from October 9: Andhra SP

Ananthapur, Oct 7 ((UNI) Superintendent of police G V G Ashok Kumar and Deputy Transport Commissioner Sundar Vadde said that that wearing of helmet by two-wheeler raiders is mandatory from October 9.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday,today, the SP and Dy.Transport Commissioner said that in the first phase, the wearing of helmet would be implemented in rural, state and national highways. In the second phase, the wearing of helmets would be implemented in other towns.

On the occasion, a power point presentation was made on the deaths of two-wheeler riders, who were killed due to lack of helmet in road accidents. Out of 650 deaths of two wheeler-raiders, 298 were killed due to lack of helmet.

They said that over one lakh two-wheeler raiders had been counselled on the wearing of helmet. Awareness programmes, including taking out of rallies would be organised, sensitizing people on the importance of wearing helmet.
