Guwahati, Oct 22 (UNI) Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi today said that they are eagerly waiting for the lifting of Onion export ban and said that sudden ban on the key kitchen staple has led to a lot of difficulty for his countrymen.
“We have stopped using Onion in our curry. I don’t know why suddenly India banned the export of Onion to our country. I had series of meetings with the Indian government on this issue and the leadership has assured me that after the Maharashtra elections are over they will lift the ban. We are waiting for that,” Mr Munshi said while speaking at the inaugural session of India Bangladesh stakeholders here.
Mr Munshi said that most of the countries in South Asia depend on India for food security and import essential commodities from India.
