Water level touches full level of 519.600 mts at Almatti Reservoir

Vijayapura, Oct 7 (UNI) Due to incessant rains in its catchment
area, Almatti dam built across river Krishna is receiving heavy
inflows since last three days and the water level has touched its
full level of 519.600 metres for the ssecond time after a brief
interval and has a storage of 123.081 tmcft today.
According to Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Ltd (KBJNL) sources, the
dam reached its full reservoir level on August 2, 2017 and due to
heavy rain in the catchment area the reservoir received heavy inflow
and reached once again its full reservoir level today.
The KBJNL Chief Executive Engineer M N Chalawadi said that ‘ it
is really good news for the people of the area and reservoir reached
its full reservoir level second time and over all we received 270.30
cusecs of water after the August first week and out of which 150
cusecs released to Narayanpur reservoir and 120 cusecs to Andhra
Pradesh.
The inflow was at the rate of 14,080 cusecs. Water was released
at the rate of 14,080 cusecs for generating power and at the rate of
420 cusecs to canals for irrigation.
Meanwhile, the inflow into Narayanpur dam has crossed 16,481
cusecs today morning and around 19,573 cusecs are being released
downstream. "With heavy inflows, around 7 gates of Narayanpur dam
were lifted on Friday late night and about 26,000 cusecs were
released so far the KBJNL," sources added .
