Was Verma removed to prevent Rafale probe, questions Kejriwal

New Delhi, Jan 11(UNI) Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi on transfer of Alok Verma as CBI chief, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday alleged that PM has put all his might to remove Alok Verma to allegedly prevent him from probing the Rafale scam.
He wondered what was wrong if the Rafale deal was to be probed by Verma.
''Now, when it has come to light that the Modi government wants to purchase Rafale fighter aircrafts at a very high price – the cost of one fighter aircraft is around Rs 600 crore and they want to purchase it at Rs 1600 crore per aircraft – meaning 36 fighter jets at an extra cost of Rs 36,000 crore to the government exchequer.
This is what was to be probed by Mr Alok Verma. What was wrong if this had been probed ?'', a statement by Delhi CM read here.
''For this precise reason, the Prime Minister had put all his might in removing Mr Alok Verma as CBI director since last two months. Why ?'', the statement said .
He further said that had the probe being conducted , everything would have come out crystal clear in front of the country. He said that removing somebody forcibly from his position in this manner was not good for the country and would wreck the entire system.
He alleged that time and again the Delhi Police and CBI were 'unleashed' by the PM Modi led government on him and he was subjected to raids and inquiries, so much so that more than 400 files of Delhi government were illegally seized by the government.
''I was not afraid at all of these raids and so-called probes since I had not indulged in any wrong doing even of a single paisa, even though they tried their level best to implicate me.'', he said.
