Nottingham, Jun 20 (UNI) David Warner brilliant century 166 off 147 (14 fours, 5 sixes), Usman Khawaja 89 off 72 (10 fours), skipper Aaron Finch 53 off 51 took Australia to a huge total of 381/5 against Bangladesh in the ICC Cricket World Cup here on Thursday.
When last over was to take place rain stopped the play, but after 24 minutes the match started with no overs lost.
Warner also became the first batsman to reach 2 150+ mark in the World Cup.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat with openers skipper AAron Finch and David Warner giving a perfect start they expected
putting up 121 run for their first wicket.
Another excellent partnership came in line-up between Khawaja and Warner for second wicket putting 192 stand first time Australia
had a century for 2nd wicket in World Cup and 4th for any team.
Bangladesh paid a heavy price for dropping Warner in the 5th over at 10 in Mashrafe Mortazas spell after Sabbir dropped him at backward point.
After that Warner didn't look back and gaining precious opportunity went on to hammer Bangladesh bowlers for boundries coming up with his fourth 50 in the World Cup in the 15th over and later on went on to amass century in 33rd over in Shakib Al Hasan's spell his second hundred in this World Cup and also completed his 16th ODI century.
In the 20th over of the 4th ball skipper Aaron Finch came up with another fifty after he punched Mehidy Hasan Miraz four down the leg side his eighth in last 11 innings.
But in the very next over the skipper went down to Soumya Sarkar caught off short third man Rubel Hossain. Finch 53 off 51 balls (5 fours, 2 sixes). Australia lost its first wicket at 121/1.
In the 43rd over of the 3rd ball Warner's one run of Mashrafe Mortaza bowl helped him reach 150 mark his 6th in ODIs.
With Finch gone, another excellent partnership was in line-up as this was first time Australia had a century for 2nd wicket in World Cup and 4th for any team. Khawaja came in and along with Warner piled up a 192 run stand for second wicket.
However, in the 45th over of the first ball Warner hit Soumya Sarkar for four but in the next ball Soumya took his revenge scalping wicket of Warner. Warner 166 off 147 (14 fours, 5 sixes). Australia were 313/2.
After Warner, Maxwell came and along with Khawaja added another quick 39 runs for third wicket, but then Maxwell after scoring a quick 32 off 10 (2 fours, 3 sixes) was run out in the 47th over by Rubel Hossain.
With Maxwell's exit next in line-up were Khawaja (89), Steven Smith 48th over (1), lbw Mustafizur Rahman. Australia's fifth wicket fell at 354/5.
In the last over Stonis hit Mustafizur Rahman for two consecutive fours taking score to 381/5 in 50 overs.
Stonis 17, Alex Carey 11 off 8 remained not out.
Soumya Sarkar 3/58, Mustafizur Rahman 1/69 were the wicket takers for Bangladesh.
