War against COVID-19: MP’s body count rises to 2,842

Bhopal, Oct 22 (UNI) The fatality figure owing to the ‘millennium scourge’ rose to 2,842 on Thursday in Madhya Pradesh where 14 fresh demises were reported even as the infected tally touched 1,64,341 with 1,045 more sufferers being detected during analysis of a record 31,014 specimens.
A Health Services bulletin issued tonight pegged the active cases at 12,146. Indore continued to have the dubious distinction of spawning the highest number of 242 new instances, Bhopal 183, Balaghat 40, Jabalpur 39, Sagar 37, Harda 27, Satna and Rajgarh 23 each, Gwalior 22, Dhar and Betul 21 each, Hoshangabad and Rewa 19 each, Neemuch 17, Guna 14, etc.

Bhopal, Nov 30 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday directed the Health Department to conduct an inquiry – with particular emphasis on the negligence angle – into the demise of some infants at a Shahdol infirmary.
“Let there be no recurrence. Proper arrangement of ventilators and other equipment should be ensured. If necessary, specialists’ services must be availed. Experts may be dispatched from Jabalpur to treat such cases,” the senior politician was officially quoted as saying during a meeting convened at his residence.

Barwani, MP, Nov 30 (UNI) A police officer slightly injured his countenance on Monday when his official vehicle rammed a stationary truck from the rear on the Agra-Mumbai National Highway, law-enforcement authorities said.
Rajpur’s Sub-Divisional Police Officer Padam Singh Baghel was rushed to an infirmary.

Accident claims youth

Burhanpur, MP, Nov 30 (UNI) A 35-year-old motorcyclist died and the pillion rider was injured when their vehicle was involved in an accident on Monday with a truck on the Ichhapur-Indore road, law-enforcement authorities said.
The deceased was identified as Prashant. The hurt youngster has been hospitalised.
