Wanted criminal killed in police encounter in Hapur

Hapur (UP), Jan 29 (UNI) A criminal carrying cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on his arrest was killed in an encounter with Hapur police here in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, a police officer said here.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mukesh Chand Mishra said that wanted criminal Manoj Bhati, a resident of Nagla Nainsukh village in Gautam Buddha Nagar, was arrested along with his aide Ankit, a resident of Haryana. "After being arrested Bhati snatched the pistol of a head constable and attempted to escape," he said.
He said that in the ensuing exchange of fire Bhati sustained bullet injury. "He was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. Special Operation Group's (SOG) Inspector S Singh also sustained bullet injury in his arm and has been admitted to the hospital," he said.
