Walmart opens its 22nd Cash & Carry store in India

Ludhiana, Sep 22(UNI) Expanding its footprints Walmart India, the wholly-owned subsidiary of world’s leading retail company Walmart Inc, on Saturday announced opening of its 22nd B2B Cash & Carry Best Price store in the country and second store here and the sixth in Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion Krish Iyer, President & Chief Executive Officer of Walmart India said this reiterates Walmart India’s commitment to India and as well as the state of Punjab where it plans to further expand its footprints. The new store simultaneously got integrated with the B2B e-commerce platform, making it the 22nd Best Price store to go online, he added.

The store here will cater to the business needs of underserved small businesses such as kiranas stores and retailers, offices & institutions, hotels, restaurants, caterers and offer unique propositions of a wide range of quality merchandise & local assortment at ‘Every Day Low Prices, unique shopping options, door-step delivery and convenient payment solutions to such businesses and adjoining areas within a radius of 100 km, Mr Iyer said.

To a question, he said the store will significantly contribute to the local and state economy by creating an estimated 2,000 direct and indirect jobs and significantly boost the small/regional supplier eco-system as it will source merchandise from local suppliers to fulfill the needs of its members.

Answering another question, Mr Iyer said “Punjab is a very important and priority growth region for us and we are further expanding our footprint in the State to support small retailers, small farmers and local suppliers here to help make them successful and togrow their business. we will continue to invest in the supply chain infrastructure and supplier development, focusing on the growth of small and medium manufacturers in the State, helping grow our farmer suppliers.”
