Hyderabad, Feb 18 (UNI) The Conciliation proceedings, conducted by Mr Rajan Verma, Chief Labour Commisisoner (Central), Ministry of Labour, Government of India with representatives of Indian Banks' Association (IBA), Ministry of Finance and United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) in his office at New Delhi on Monday, was adjourned to March 5.
Informing this in a circular letter to all office bearers, state federations and All India Bank-wise Organizations on Tuesday, All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) General Secretary Ch Venkatachalam said on January 27, a conciliation meeting was held by Mr Verma based on the two-strike notice served by UFBU.
In that meeting, he said, the IBA was advised to call for negotiations so that attempt can be made to sort out the demands of the UFBU.
Accordingly, bipartite talks took place on January 30 and it had failed paving way for the UFBU to go ahead with its two-day strike on January 31 and February 1
Mr Venkatachalam said from IBA side, they reported on the gist of the discussions held with the UFBU on January 30 and informed the CLC that despite their improved offer, the unions went on strike.
The IBA stated that ''frequent strike in Banks are adversely affecting the interests of the Banks, particularly the Public Sector Banks. They also stated that their offer stands and are willing to continue the discussions further and wanted the UFBU to withdraw the agitation and strikes''.
He said the UFBU stated that the bipartite talks should continue and informed that it was ready to continue the talks with IBA to arrive at a satisfactory wage revision settlement expeditiously. Other unions also stated their position.
After discussions, the CLC opined that the discussions and dialogue should be continued so that the issues could be resolved amicably.
The IBA agreed to hold the discussions at the earliest. The date will be decided by IBA and it will be informed to UFBU, the top Union leader said, adding, that the conciliation proceedings was adjourned to March 5.
