New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday interacted here with High School students and teachers from Uttarakhand who are on a study tour of India, and asked them to make water conservation and plastic-free environment a mass campaign.
During the interaction, Mr Naidu said,'I applaud Vinod Kandari, MLA from Deoprayag, Uttarakhand, for organising and facilitating this tour for these bright, young students. Uttarakhand is Dev Bhoomi, the land of our great ancestors and saints. You have the blessings of nature. Uttarakhand has all the means of development available in the form of forest wealth, water resources. If nature has made you resourceful, then it is your sacred duty to protect its environment too.'
'We need to pay special attention to water conservation. Keep your aquatic sources free from pollution of substances like plastics. I would expect my young colleagues and educational institutions to make water conservation and plastic-free environment a mass campaign,' the Vice-President said.
'Tourism itself is a medium of education. You learn a lot from new experiences. Tourism makes you a complete citizen of society. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also given a call this year to see at least 15 new tourist places by 2022. I hope that this education tour of yours is an important step in this direction and you will get acquainted with the diversity of the country and find out the sources of unity in this diversity itself,' he said.
'I heartily congratulate you, your teachers and parents and wish you all the best for future successes - have a bright future. Earn fame for your family, community and country - this will be your most important Dakshina for your teachers and your parents,' he added.
