New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) Seeking to expand India’s footprint and forge closer ties with Africa, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu concluded his tour to Comoros and Sierra Leone and returned home on Tuesday.
It was the first-ever visit by such a high-level Indian dignitary to Comoros, an archipelago situated off the Southeast coast of Africa and to Sierra Leone. Mr Naidu was accompanied by Mr Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Union Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Ramvichar Netam, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and senior officials.
Upon Mr Naidu’s arrival at Moroni, the capital of Comoros, on October 10, the President of the Union of Comoros, Mr Azali Assoumani broke the protocol to personally receive Mr Naidu at the airport.
