Voting underway for DUSU polls, results  on Thursday

New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) Voting is underway for the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) polls with polling beginning at 0830 hours on wednesday.

The polling went on till 1300 hours in the morning colleges , while the polling for the evening shift is underway , being held between 1500 hours to 1930 hours, in total at the 52 centres across the city and campuses.

At around 700 Electronic Voting Machines have been put in place for the polls across the centres and senior faculty memebers have been appointed as observers.

A total of 23 candidates are in the fray , including candidates belonging to student wings of the Congress , BJP and AAP , i.e. Nattional Students Union of India , Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Chattra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti respectively.

ABVP has fielded Ankiv Basoya against NSUI's Sunny Chillar for the post of DUSU president.

AAP's CYSS which has formed an alliance with left's student wing AISA has fielded Abhigyan.

In the joint panel , AISA is contesting for President and Vice President post , while CYSS is contesting for secretary and joint secreatary posts.

To motivate students, to turn up in large numbers for the polling, senior political leaders of various parties took to social media, urging them to caste their valuable vote to their respective candidates, further making them aware, especially the first time voter about the importance of their vote responsibility.

The counting of votes is schedudled for Thursday which will decide the fate of the 23 candidates.
