Volkswagen introduces Polo in a Compact 1.0 Litre MPI Engine

Mumbai, Mar 09(UNI) Volkswagen, Europe’s leading car manufacturer,

today announced the introduction of a new 1.0 L MPI engine for the

Polo. The new engine option will be available across all MPI engine

trims for the Polo.

The Polo has captivated audiences, globally for over 40 years. Since

its launch in India in 2010, the Polo has continued its reign of

success in India as well with its charismatic and lively persona.

The new engine option will further enhance the appeal of this

popular carline, address the changing customer preference for more

fuel efficient cars and deliver a more augmented product offerings

from Volkswagen. The new 1.0 L MPI engine will generate a peak power

of 56 kW and a torque of 95 Nm providing enhanced agility, muscle in

a compact package at no extra cost, which will perfectly suit the

diverse customer profile of the Indian car market.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen

Passenger Cars India said, 'Delivering on our promise of continued

product introduction and innovation, we are pleased to introduce the

Polo in an all-new 1.0 L MPI engine. We are known for our

performance and unmatched safety and with this new introduction; we

further enhance our brand proposition, providing a diverse portfolio

to India’s distinctive car-buyer, with multiple engine options that

best suits their requirements.'

Polo will now be on offer with improved fuel efficiency of 18.78

kmpl (as per ARAI) without compromising on performance.

Prices remain the same with the Polo Trendline starting from

Rs 5,41,800 (ex-showroom).

The 1.2 L MPI engine across the Volkswagen product offering in India

will be replaced by 1.0 L MPI engine.
