Visit 15 tourist destinations in a year and receive reward from Tourism ministry

Konark (Odisha), Jan 24 (UNI) The Tourism Ministry will fund the travel expenses of the tourists who visits 15 tourists destinations in the country in a year, Union Minister of state for Tourism and Culture Prahlad Singh Patel said here today.
Speaking at the concluding day of the two-day national tourism conference, organized by Odisha government in association with FICCI , Mr Patel said, "We will fund the travel expenses of the travellers who travels out of his/her own state, completes 15 destinations in a year and submit the photos on our website.’’
The Tourism Ministry will honour these persons as brand ambassador of Indian Tourism under the Paryatan Parv initiative of the Union Government.
Mr Patel said Konark will be included in the list of iconic sites. "The people of Odisha will soon receive the good news about Konark being included in the list of iconic sites," he said and added, "we will organise a special event to announce the inclusion very soon."
There was a huge uproar in Odisha last year after Konark failed to find a place in the list of iconic sites list prepared by the Union Ministry of Tourism.
Union Additional Director General of Tourism Rupinder Brar said the Odisha government should encourage students to participate in large number in certificate programme for trained tourist guides organized by the Tourism Ministry.
Participation of Odisha in this programme is very low and it needs to be enhanced. Out of 3500 students trained in the programme only five were from Odisha, she said.
A Memorandum of Intent (MoI) was signed between Odisha and Gujarat Government for cross promotion of tourism in both the states as well as across the country.
Odisha Tourism Director Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav said a formal MoU mentioning key frameworks and policies will be signed soon.
FICCI Eastern Tourism Committee Chairman Soubhagya Mohapatra said Centre should coordinate with states to introduce more tourist trains to connect various undiscovered areas of the country.
