Violence in Gorakhpur district jail: prisoners thrash dy jailer, 3 security personnel

Gorakhpur, Oct 11(UNI) Irked over thrashing of an inmate during police interrogation, prisoners of the Gorakhpur district jail beat up four security personnel, including the deputy jailer, on Friday morning.

Police sources here said that the DM and SSP have rushed to the jail along with additional forces but the prisoners were throwing stones on them.



The prisoners were annoyed on thrashing of some prisoners by Circle Officer(CO) Veer Singh, who had interrogated some of them on Thursday.

The prisoners assembled at 0600 hrs and started beating up deputy jailer Pandey and other three security personnel.

Officials said that though additional forces have been rushed to control the situation, the prisoners were yet to be pacified.



Police were using drone cameras to identify the prisoners indulging in the violence.
