Violence erupts during Ram Baraat in UP village: Many hurt, cops suspended

Deoria (UP), Oct 10 (UNI) A Ram Baraat procession in Ekauna village turned violent last night after a previous dispute escalated, leading to an attack on performers playing the roles of Lord Ram, Lakshman, and others.
The incident caused widespread outrage among villagers, prompting a protest against the local police, officials confirmed today.
The violence occurred during the ongoing Ramleela celebrations that began on September 22. On October 7, a village fair was held where a confrontation took place after some youths allegedly stood in line with women, leading to objections from the Ramleela committee.
