Vikho-o Yhoshu elects Speaker of Nagaland Assembly

Kohima Mar 13 (UNI) Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) legislator Vikho-o Yhoshu today elected as the Speaker of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly in a election held in the floor of the Nagaland Assembly. On the opening day of the Nagaland Assembly Budget Session today the election was held between two nominees of NDPP party candidates Vikho-o Yhoshu and Naga Peoples Front (NPF) Dr. Imtiwapang Aier, who had filed their nomination papers for the post of Speaker.
Pro-tem Speaker Mmhonlumo Kikon asked the members of the House for voting by secret ballots, where Vikho-o Yhoshu was polled by 33 votes against his rival Dr. Imtiwapang, who was polled by 26 votes. Pro-tem Speaker Mmhonlumo announced the victory of Yhoshu. The Leader of the House Neiphiu Rio and the Leader of Opposition T R Zeliang congratulated Yhoshu and escorted to the seat of the Speaker, where Yhoshu thanked the members who elected him as the Speaker.
After assuming the Chair of the Speaker Leader of the House Rio congratulated Yhoshu for elected as the new Speaker, followed by Zeliang, who appealed the Speaker for a neutral role of the Speaker for all the members of the House.
