Vijay honours Kirti Chakra awardee with Rs 48 lakh award

Chennai, June 15 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on Monday honoured the prestigious Kirti Chakra awardee Lance Naik A Meenakshi Sundaram, with a cash award of Rs 48 lakh in recognition of his act of gallantry during anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir, despite suffering multiple injuries
Vijay presented the cheque to him at the State Secretariat in the presence of his family members here and hailed his courage, patriotism and commitment to national security.
Meenakshi Sundaram, serving in the artillery regiment of the Indian Army, had sustained serious injuries in his face and shoulder during an anti-terror operation in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on December 19, 2024. Despite suffering bullet injuries during the encounter, he continued the operation and neutralised the terrorists, an official release here said.
