Vijay Diwas commemorates Indian Forces' victory in Indo-Pak war

Kolkata, Dec 16 (UNI) The Vijay Diwas, marking the triumph of the Indian Forces over Pakistani Army during the Bangladesh liberation war in 1971 in the eastern sector, was being celebrated with special emphasis on Indo-Bangla friendship at the headquarters of the Eastern Command in the city.
To commemorate the 54th Vijay Diwas, a series of events were being organised to celebrate the event with Military Tattoo conducted at Mangal Pandey Training Area, which was graced by Gen (Dr) VK Singh (Retd), Governor of Mizoram in presence of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, Lt Gen Ram Chander Tiwari and West Bengal youth and sports minister Aroop Biswas and senior military officers and civilians.
The celebration was being held since Monday opened to the public, who witnessed a spectacular range of military displays, led by Fly Past of Army Combat Helicopters, followed by captivating tent pegging performances by Army riders, showcasing the exceptional bond between Army riders and their steeds.

Rohini decries injustice to NEET rape-murder victim, questions safety of girls in Bihar

Patna, Jan 20 (UNI) Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, today raised the question of safety of girls in Bihar, saying a NEET student who was raped and murdered in a Patna-based hostel a few days back had slim chance of getting justice due to the "indifferent attitude" of the Nitish Kumar government and the "suppressive nature of investigation" of the case by police.
