Vigyanotsav celebrated in Himachal's central varsity

Kangra Feb 28 (UNI) Central University of Himachal Pradesh celebrated the Vigyanotsav today and the theme of the Vigyanotsav-2019 was “Science for the people and people for the science” and various activities in science such as Model, Poster, Quiz, Rangoli and Declamation contest as organized.
The inaugural session was held in the conference hall of CUHP, Shahpur and Prof M K Dhar the Vice-Chancellor of University of Jammu was the Chief Guest. Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed, Dean School of Earth and
Environmental Sciences welcomed the participants.
Prof AK Mahajan introduced the theme of Vigyanotsav-2019. Prof MK Dhar delivered the keynote address on science and society, elaborated the connect between science, society and policy, highlighted the major developments in Biotechnology in this century and concluded with the remarks that science, society and policy must work in tandem to achieve United Nation Sustainable Development Goals-2030. Prof. Adarsh Kumar, veterinary college Agricultural University, Palampur was the Guest of Honour.

Prof IV Malhan, Dean Academic and Convener of the programme presided over the inaugural session.
Thereafter, Prof. MK Dhar accompanied with other dignitaries visited various stalls of students where different
science models were displayed and he interacted with the students and inspired them.
Prof Adarsh Kumar delivered an invited lecture on Ancient traditions of science and development of scientific temper. Students of various departments displayed in all 27 models for model competition. There
were 9 participants in poster competition and 23 students participated in quiz competition. Fifteen students participated in declamation debate and 17 student participants displayed their Rangoli creations.
The valedictory session was presided over by Prof. HR Sharma, Pro-Vice Chancellor of CUHP. Prof. KS Verma Vice-Chancellor of Career Point University was Chief Guest.The winners of various competitions were
given awards and certificates.
