Video conferencing of telemedicine unit saves Rs 10 to 12 Lac: IGMC

Shimla, May 23 (UNI) Indira Gandhi Medical College and hospital (IGMC), Shimla, has saved worth Rs 10 to12 lakh after conducting more than 500 depositions of doctors in various court through video conferencing during the last last two years, the college's senior Medical Superintendent Dr Janak Raj said.
Informing about the service, the Medical Superintendent told UNI that services of video conferencing for deposition in the learned court of Himachal kicked off in the telemedicine unit at IGMC Shimla on April 25, 2017.
This facility helped state save Rs 10 to 12 lakh being spent on the travel allowance of the doctors.
Head of Forensic unit Dr Piyush Kapila along with his team of IT personnel conducted around 500 depositions in various criminal court trail during last two years.
The facility not only unburdened the state exchequers but it also facilitated the doctors to serve between 500 to 1000 days in the hospital, saving the life giving their precious time to the serve of humanity.
Earlier, to this, doctor would appear in various trails courts on the day-to-day basis. With the surge in technology and ready acceptance by almost all courts of the state of Himachal Pradesh, quick and timely deposition of doctors in various criminal cases is helping in justice delivery stem.
