Vice-Prez, Amit Shah, Congress pay tributes to noted visionary, Bharat Ratna Visvesvaraya

New Delhi, Sep 15 (UNI) Conveying his greetings on the occasion of Engineers' Day, celebrated as a mark of respect to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya , Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said the nation is ever grateful to his invaluable contributions.
'I convey my warm greetings and good wishes to engineers on the occasion of Engineers' Day celebrated as a mark of respect to Shri Visvesvaraya,' Mr Naidu said in his tweet.
Remembering Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on his birth anniversary, Mr Naidu said he was a visionary and civil engineer par excellence.
'A civil engineer par excellence, he harnessed India's water resources through dams. He was a visionary. The nation is ever grateful to his invaluable contributions,' he said in another tweet.
Earlier in his tributes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said engineers are synonymous with diligence and determination.
'Human progress would be incomplete without their innovative zeal. Greetings on Engineers Day and best wishes to all hardworking engineers. Tributes to the exemplary engineer Sir M Visvesvaraya on his birth anniversary.
BJP president Amit Shah said, 'Tributes to a noted visionary, Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya ji on his birth anniversary.
'On Engineers’ Day, I salute our hard working and talented engineers for their vital role in nation’s development. Their innovation & enterprise is something that is recognised world over.'
The Congress said, 'As we celebrate Engineers Day, we honour M Visvesvaraya, who is remembered for his seminal contributions in engineering in irrigation and flood control.'

Sir Visvesvaraya was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1955 for his contributions to the nation, the principal opposition party said in its tweet.
Born in 1861, Engineer M Visvesvaraya passed away in 1962 . In 1955, he was awarded Bharat Ratna.
