Vice President asks youth to shun negativism & discourage violence

Panaji, Feb 24 (UNI) Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday asked the youth to shun negativism and discourage violence.
Speaking at 32nd Convocation of Goa University held at Kala Academy in the city, he said there was no place for violence in democracy and need of the hour was to be constructive and develop a positive outlook.
'There is no place for violence in a democracy. Be constructive and develop a positive outlook. Join the forces of growth. The need of the hour is to channelize the energies of the youth in constructive, nation-building activities. My advice to youth is to shun negativism and not to encourage violence,' he said.
The Vice President expressed happiness over people talking about importance of constitution and said every citizen must follow the Constitution in letter and spirit.
'I am also happy that in recent times people are talking about the importance of the Constitution. It is indeed a positive sign and every citizen must follow the Constitution in letter and spirit,' he said.
Mr Naidu there should be growth in every sector and for that governments, both at the Centre and state, should involve people in their programmes.
'We must think of inclusive growth. Growth in certain areas is not required. Every sectors of society must be partners in the development and glory of the country. And for that governments at the Centre and State and local bodies must also involve people in programmes. Whether it is Swachh Bharat, Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao, Fitness India, people should participate in all these programmes. These programmes are not for the governments but for the people. These programmes are for enhancement and betterment of the country. This has to be kept in mind,' he said.
