Veteran socialist leader Ram Ekbal Singh passes away

Patna, Oct 10 (UNI) Veteran socialist leader and freedom fighter Ram Ekbal Singh has died after protracted illness here.
He was 94.
Singh, a native of Varsi village of Bhojpur district, who was elected to Bihar Legislative Assembly on Socialist Party ticket in 1969, breathed his last in Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science (IGIMS), Patna late last night where he was admitted for treatment.
The departed socialist leader had actively participated in the freedom movement and was also put behind bars by the British regime.
Singh, a true disciple of great socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia, had devoted his entire public life for promoting socialism and uplift of oppressed section of the society.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and a host of other leaders from various political parties have expressed shock over the demise of socialist leader.
