VAT on Petrol, Diesel enhanced to mobilize funds for  COVID-19

Puducherry, Apr 9 (UNI) The government has enhanced the Value Added Tax (VAT) on Petrol and Diesel by one percent to mobilize funds for Coronavirus pandemic in the Union Territory.



Finance Secretary Shurbir Singh in a notification here on Thursday said that Petrol hereafter will be sold at a tax rate of 22.15 percent and Diesel 18.15 percent.

This enhancement will come into effect from Friday.



The Additional Revenue thus collected will be transferred to the Health and Family Welfare Department for incurring expenditure on COVID-19.
