Varanasi records 116 new cases, tally surges to 3,659

Varanasi, Aug 6 (UNI) With 116 more people testing positive for the novel coronavirus, the total number of cases increased to 3,659 in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi district on Thursday.
Official sources here said that out of the 716 test results obtained from BHU, 116 have tested positive. Out of the total 3,659 cases in the district so far, 1,956 have recovered completely.
On the other hand, 1,632 patients are currently undergoing treatment at the COVID hospitals. So far 72 people have succumbed to the infection in Varanasi.

Lucknow, Sep 30 (UNI) The 19-year-old Dalit girl from Hathras, who had succumbed to her injuries from gangrape and assault, was cremated by the Uttar Pradesh Police at her village in the small hours of Wednesday, allegedly in the absence of any family member or relative of the victim.

Srinagar, Sep 30 (UNI) A senior police officer on Wednesday said that the bodies of three persons from Rajouri, who were killed in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir district of Shopian in July this year, will be exhumed and handed over to their families.
