Vandana Chavan accuses Modi of betraying women of country

Pune, Apr 20 (UNI) Member of Rajya Sabha and NCP leader Vandana Chavan on Saturday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of betraying the women of the country by not fulfilling the promises made for women's welfare in 2014 election.
Talking to reporters in presence of Congress candidate Mohan Joshi here, she said that Mr Modi had promised to pass the bill for 33 per cent reservation for women in parliament and the state assemblies, but it had not been fulfilled so far despite the issue being raised repeatedly by the opposition, she pointed.
Citing examples of neighbouring countries like Nepal and Pakistan, she said that it is very shameful that these countries have passed the law for 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies and blamed Mr Modi for having made an empty promise.
