V-P releases a book on Ramdas Athawale

New Delhi, Jan 3 (UNI) Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday released a book on Minister of State

for Social Justice & Empowerment Ramdas Athawale, describing him as a 'vocal leader for the emancipation

of Dalits in modern society'.

Addressing a gathering after releasing the book ‘Bharat ke Rajneta – Ramdas Athawale’ authored by Rajiv

Suman here, he said Mr Athawale has emerged as vocal leader for the emancipation of Dalits in modern

society.

According to Mr Naidu, the book talks about Mr Athawale’s approach of peaceful resistance and protest

that strengthens democracy, and added that it was important to identify glaring inequalities and take concrete

action to bridge the gaps.

The book describes the minister's accomplishments on crucial issues of national importance like equal

opportunities for all citizens, representation of women in Parliament and legislatures and protection indigenous

tribal population.

Besides Mr Athawale, other dignitaries were present on the occasion, an official release here said.
