Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Aug 23 2016 11:00AM V O Chidambaranar Port Trust create new recordChennai, Aug 23 (UNI) The V O Chidambaranar Port Trust has created a new record by handling 14,590 tonnes of Wheat import on August five this year from the vessel 'MV Dream Ocean' at Berth No 6. An official statement here today said, it had surpassed the previous record of 12,000 tonnes handled from the vessel 'MV Lefkes' on July 10 last year. M/s. Aspinwall and Company Limited was the Vessel Agent and M/s Inter Ocean Shipping Private Limited was the Stevedoring Agent. The Port created new record by handling 22,055 tonnes of Copper slag on August nine from the vessel 'MV Ata-M' at Berth No II surpassing the previous record of 10,815 tonnes handled from the vessel 'MV Oriente Prime' on July eight, 2007. The Port created another new record by handling 15,735 tonnes of sulphur on August 18, from the vessel 'MV Ken Moonys' at Berth No.IV surpassing the previous record of 12,157 tonnes handled from the vessel 'MV Maratha Prestige' on September seven, 2011. VOC Port Trust Chairman S Anantha Chandra Bose, while thanking the stake holders, officers and the employees of the Port who have contributed to achieve this record, said that his Port was continuously striving to achieve improvement in performance and productivity in order to attract more volume of traffic through the Port.
