Uttarakhand tragedy: Inquiry reveals negligence of officials

Ambala, Jan 16 (UNI) An inquiry by the Railway Divisional administration into the incident of stealing and destroying of clothes donated by the people for those displaced in the Uttarakhand tragedy has revealed that the aids instead of reaching the needy, are still lying unattended in the parcel office due to negligence of officials.
A committee of officials was constituted to investigate into the matter, identify those responsible for not bringing the clothes in use on time and suggest action against the officers, employees and other persons working for disposal of clothes so that stern action should taken against the erring persons.
During inquiry, the railway officials found that a contractor engaged for this job had buried the clothes by digging the land. Under orders from the railway authorities, senior officer Ashok Kumar visited the spot and got the the clothes dug out. He said that the concerned officers and employees including the contractor were found negligent.
