Kolkata, Sep 21(UNI): Trincas, the very name, evoking nostalgia among the elite Kolkatans, will celebrate its 60 years of journey, which will come alive on Sepember 27 and 28 with the rocking performance of legendary singer Usha Uthup.
Trincas is the main Park Street eatery that never ended live music and this has made it stick out, sixty years down the line. The 19- year saree clad Usha Uthup started performing live here on October 1, 1969 and before long made the spot her very own and prevailed upon the hearts of the elite denizens.
Usha Uthup had given a new zing to the Trincas' live music scene in her Kanjivaram sarees and blooms in her hair. She met her husband Jani Uthup at this joint and decided to be a part of this city.
"It was a fantasy materialized for me. The possibility of singing before a Kolkata group of spectators was energizing. It appears not more than a day or two ago and for me not a lot has changed about Park Street. It's the same marvellous spot that it used to be. I would for the most part sing English melodies and break into a Hindi or a Bengali number every so often. The group of spectators went wild. They couldn't envision a young lady performing like that at an eatery and that too in a saree", says Usha Uthup.
Trincas is presently hoping to modernize its food. It has reproduced the velvet red background to the performing stage that had been taken off three decades prior. It's likewise resuscitating the old taste of Chinese sustenance.
"The vibe of the city has changed and Park Street is adjusting to that. Be that as it may, Park Street continues as before and the cafés are there, as well. The city's youths are currently rediscovering Park Street and they are adoring it", said Anand Puri, owner Trincas.
