USA, Argentina women record second win

Santiago (Chile), Jan 22 (UNI) The United States registered their second successive win from two outings in women's pool B match in the Pan Am Hockey Cup here. The USA prevailed over Canada by 3-1 and are leading their pool B with full six points.
The first three quarters ended goalless. All productive actions on Friday came in the fourth and last quarter. All four goals were scored in this season. Three goals were scored through penalty corner conversion.
It was Canada who drew the first blood in the 48th minute when they earned a penalty corner and Brienne Stairs converted it with ease. Stunned with the reverses, USA women went all out. They counter-attacked in the next minute (49th) and forced a penalty corner. Rose Hope translated it into a goal to restore parity.
Encouraged with the success, USA kept on pressing and in the 57th minute Sessa Ashley scored a field goal to give her team a 2-1 lead. Captain Magadan Amanda rounded off the winners' tally by converting a penalty corner in the 59th minute.
In the rough and tough match Johansen Karli (59th minute) and Leahy Kathleen (55th), both of Canada were penalised with yellow cards. Johansen Karli (48th), Wong Elise (12th) and Lee Alison (37th) received green cards for rough play.
USA's Wolgemuth Jillian received a yellow card.
Argentina were leading Pool A with six full points from two outings after beating hosts Chile by 4-0 after leading 1-0 at interval. The first quarter ended goalless.

Maria Granatto contributed two goals in the 35th minute (penalty corner) and 59th minute (field goal).
Earlier Agostina Alonso had put Argentiina ahead by scoring a field goal in the 27th minute.
Agustina Gorzelany converted a penalty stroke in the 43rd minute as Argentina established a commanding 3-0 lead.
Playing their second match in pool B, Trinidad and Tobago women registered their first win after beating Peru by two second-half goals and secured three points.
After a barrend first half, Trinidad and Tobago struck two goals to emerge winners. They got their first breakthrough when Olton Kaitiyn scored a field goal in the 43rd minute. Felicia King made it safe for Trinidad and Tobago with a field goal in the 58th minute.
Peru suffered their second successive loss. On day one Canada had beaten Peru by 14-0.
Peru captain Camila Mendez was shown a green card in the 24th minute. Quarter-wise scores: 0-0, 0-0, 1-0, 2-0.
