US reiterates commitment to defend the Philippines

Washington, Apr 8(UNI) The United States has reminded China regarding its(US) commitment of defending the Philippines in the face of a military threat.
Addressing reporters late on Wednesday State Department spokesman Ned Price said,''An armed attack against the Philippines' armed forces, public vessels or aircraft in the Pacific, including in the South China Sea, will trigger our obligations under the US-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty.''
Price expressed concerns regarding China's military presence in the South China Sea in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of Philippines.
