US President Donald Trump claims Iran pledges to never block Strait of Hormuz again

Washington/Tehran, Apr 17 (UNI) US President Donald Trump claimed Friday that Iran has agreed to keep the Strait of Hormuz open permanently, terming it a major step toward stabilising global energy flows, as the Iran-US ceasefire nears its expiration.
"Iran has agreed to never close the Strait of Hormuz again. It will no longer be used as a weapon against the World!" Trump wrote on Truth Social, nine days into the two-week truce.
The narrow waterway is one of the most critical arteries in global energy trade, with roughly 20% of the world's crude oil passing through it.
