US DNI Tulsi Gabbard directs all intel agencies to review feasibility of random polygraph tests in stemming info leaks

Washington, Oct 8 (UNI) US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard issued a memo back in September ordering all of the country's intelligence agencies to conduct a review of whether random polygraph examinations of their employees or contractors are feasible, in a bid to stem the wave of intel leaks in recent years.
As such, the directive also stresses on the need for tests to include questions about whether employees or potential applicants have leaked information to members of the press as part of the standard battery of questions during the security clearance adjudication process, reports CBS News.
While questions related to leaks have been commonplace for U.S. intelligence community employees and applicants, the Trump administration is intensifying its crackdown on all possible avenues for disclosing state secrets, and cautioned members of the intelligence community that they'll face additional scrutiny over any leaks of sensitive information to media outlets.
