US absence at COP30 raises concerns for Greenpeace

Belem (Brazil), Nov 11 (UNI) Greenpeace has openly expressed its discontent over the United States' absence from COP30, which kicked off with the involvement of key stakeholders, including India.
During a press conference on Monday, Jasper Inventor of Greenpeace International, stated, "The US's decision to boycott the summit is essentially a refusal to acknowledge the pressing realities we face. We must hold accountable those responsible for the current state of our planet. Historically, their actions have harmed the Earth, and now they are avoiding crucial discussions."
Inventor emphasised that COP30 should go beyond mere promises, advocating urgent action and a firm commitment to address loss, damage, and adaptation. "Financial commitments and funding for loss and damage must be non-negotiable. We need to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, protect forests, and ensure adequate funding," he insisted.
