Uri attack: Pak envoy summoned again, confronted with more proof
New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar today summoned Pakistan's High Commissioner Abdul Basit to India, the second time in a week, after a terrorist attack on an Army garrison in Uri sector and handed him yet another demarche, giving details and proof of cross-border nature of the onslaught. Mr Basit was told that since his last summoning on September 21, local villagers apprehended two Pakistani guides, who were now under NIA custody. They hail from Muzaffarabad district in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Faizal Hussain Awan (20) and Yasin Khursheed (19) had helped Jaish-e-Muhammad terrorists, who attacked the army camp at Uri, leaving 18 soldiers dead. According to the demarche, Awan, during interrogation told the National Investigative Agency that they had facilitated the border crossing of the group that perpetrated the 18 September Uri massacre. In his preliminary statement, he identified as one among the slain attackers- Hafiz Ahmed, son of Feroz from village Dharbang, Muzaffarabad. He also revealed details of two handlers in this operation - Mohd Kabir Awan and Basharat. In another incident, one Pakistani national Abdul Qayoom of Sialkot was apprehended in Molu sector opposite Pakistan's Sialkot sector on September 23. He has confessed to undergoing three weeks of training with the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and donating substantial funds to Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation, their front organisation.
